Over the past 20 years Mike McGetrick has become one of America's premier golf instructors. Mike's reputation developed as a result of the thousands of golfers who have successfully improved their games at his award-winning golf academy, in addition to the recognition he's received from industry leaders and his peers.
Mike is the 1999 National PGA Teacher of the Year, and a five-time Colorado PGA Teacher of the Year. He is a featured instruction editor for Golf Digest magazine, was voted number eight of Golf Digests Americas 50 Greatest Teachers, as well as number one in the state of Colorado. Mike has been recognized by Golf Magazine as one of the Top 100 Teaching.
Professionals in America since 1991. Mike makes regular appearances on The Golf Channel and he has authored a book titled "The Scramblers Dozen " 12 Shots Every Golfer Needs To Score Like The Pros. Mike coaches men, women, seniors and junior golfers of all ages and abilities. While the majority of Mike's teaching takes place with amateur golfers, he coaches players on the PGA and LPGA Tours who have a combined total of 43 worldwide wins and 9 Major Championships. Notable students include: Juli Inkster, Meg Mallon, Beth Daniel, Wendy Ward and Brandt Jobe.
Director of Instruction
Stan Sayers has earned the reputation of being one of the countries premier golf instructors and custom club fitting experts for Henry-Griffitts Inc. and Titleist/Cobra. His custom fitting clients include PGA & LPGA Tour professionals, PGA & LPGA club professionals and top amateurs. Stan, a class A PGA member, has provided golf instruction for over 20 years and instructs golf professionals in the art of club fitting. Stan is married, and living in Littleton, CO with his wife Lynda and their two children Bethany and Lauren. Stan has helped countless golfers elevate their golf games to a higher level. His students include local and national junior champions and Denver Bronco MVP Terrell Davis. He is a recipient of the Henry-Griffitts Professional Club Fitter Award and has been elected to the Consumer Research Council's “Top Golf Instructors in the Country.” Colorado Avid Golfer and The Rocky Mountain News featured Stan regarding his club fitting knowledge. He currently coaches Gary Hallberg and is the volunteer coach for the CU golf team.
Staff Instructor/Physical Therapist
Eli Haskell is a PGA apprentice with an undergraduate degree from The Colorado College, and a Masters Degree in Physical Therapy from Eastern Washington University. This extensive background in the study of human movement has enabled him to become a specialist in golf biomechanics and makes him an expert at correctly identifying his students physical limitations. Eli believes in customized teaching program based on an assessment of each golfer's individual goals, and their physical and mental makeup. Though he enjoys working with all abilities, his true passion and expertise is in developing the competitive junior golfer. His commitment is evidence by sixteen of his students participating in the 2005 and 2006 Colorado High School State Championships, including two top 5 finishers, and six top 20 finishers.
An active player, Eli currently competes in several local professional tournaments and has authored several articles in local publications such as Colorado Avid Golfer and Golf views, as well as television tips on Golf at Altitude. When not playing golf, he spends time coaching High School Golf and Basketball, and enjoying time with his three young sons.
Gary Davis
Staff Instructor
Gary has been a member of the PGA of America since 1995, and is a 1992 graduate of New Mexico State University with a Bachelor of Business Administration and an emphasis in Professional Golf Management. The majority of his golf career has been spent serving in the capacity of Head Golf Professional, Director of Golf and General Manager at nationally recognized golf facilities in New Mexico and Colorado. During his career he has twice been honored as Sun Country Section PGA Merchandiser of the Year and in 2002 as the Sun Country Section PGA Golf Professional of the Year. He also served as President of the Section from 2001 – 2003. Gary has had extensive experience teaching the game of golf throughout his career, working with players of all abilities to improve their game with a focus on strong fundamentals. In addition to his work with the McGetrick Golf Academy, he also serves as the Director of Instruction for The First Tee of Green Valley Ranch.
Staff Instructor
Elena is a member of the LPGA Teaching and Club Professional Division and a graduate of the University of Iowa. Elena is an accomplished player with many individual titles as an amateur and a professional. She was Captain three years at the University of Iowa. As a professional she played on the WPGT, Futures Tour and the Asian Tour. Elena has worked with several nationally know instructors, including Butch Harmon, and LPGA Hall of Fame instructor Joanne Winter.
Elena has a wide range of instructional experience. This includes organizing and instructing junior camps at the University of Iowa, three years of individual instruction at Quail Run Golf Club, Naples, FL, and eight years at The Golf Learning Center, in Itasca, IL. Instruction at The Golf Learning Center included individual lessons, corporate clinics, junior clinics, golf schools and highly specialized short game schools. She is dedicated to continually educating herself in all aspects of the game by attending seminars and education programs on a regular basis.
Elena offers a comprehensive approach to the game. Her extensive competitive playing experience combined with her instructional knowledge will elevate your skill level and increase your total knowledge of the game. She is dedicated to providing the expertise and thought process necessary to achieve your individual goals in a positive way.
Staff Instructor
Scotty is a PGA Member with 12 years teaching experience and is a lead instructor at the McGetrick Golf Academy. His undergraduate studies were at Pan American University and he received Masters and Juris Doctorate degrees at The University of South Dakota. Scotty has authored works in The Golfer magazine and other local and regional publications. Scotty is an accomplished player as well, having competed for a time on the Dakotas mini-tour.
Professional Merchandiser/Club Fitter/Staff Instructor
Joe is a factory trained professional custom club fitter and instructor. He has been in the club repair and fitting business for over eight years. Joe has training in fitting all major manufacturers including; Callaway, Cleveland, Cobra, Titleist, McGregor, Mizuno, Ping, Taylor Made, Dimension Z, Srixon, and Henry Griffitts. Not only does Joe fit clubs using his extensive knowledge of the club heads and shafts but by using the latest state-of-the art diagnostic equipment (P3 Pro, Vector launch monitor, and J.C. video analysis). Joe has also spent the last three year apprenticing as a teaching professional under the leadership of Mike McGetrick and his senior staff. Joe has a passion for teaching and has learned what it takes to advance your game and lower your scores. Joe believes that there are two types of swing fundamentals; a one-plane swing and a two-plane swing. Knowing which swing is for you will help understand your specific swing faster and more completely than you could imagine. Not only will you determine which swing type is best for you. Joe will also develop a comprehensive program and drills for your continued success.

Brent has a wealth of knowledge and experience to bring to students at any level. His unique background as a top 125 ranked player according to the Sony World Rankings, can offer a unique insight to anyone looking to improve their game. His playing background includes being a three time all American at Brigham Young University, WAC player of the year twice, winner of eight college tournaments during his three years at BYU. He was a three time National Amateur champion and two time National Junior champion in Canada. He represented his country several times in competition around the world including the World Cup, World Amateur and the prestigious Dunhill Cup at St. Andrews in Scotland. Brent has also enjoyed a great deal of success on several tours around the world including Japan, Canada, Australia, Asia and the United States. He enjoys working with players of all ages and levels of ability from top tournament players to first time beginners. He is also currently the assistant coach for the University of Colorado Women's golf team in Boulder as well.
Sam Heavrin

Sam is a PGA Apprentice has been a member of the McGetrick Golf Academy since 2006. Sam grew up in the Denver area and received a bachelor's degree from the University of Colorado at Boulder. Since being introduced to golf at a very young age by his father, Sam has spent many years honing his skills on and off the course. Through training with Mike McGetrick and his staff Sam has developed a complete and comprehensive teaching method. Sam works with all skill levels from true beginners to elite level players wanting to take there game to the next level. Sam's playing experience has taken him through junior golf, high school, college and the professional ranks. Sam still actively participates in local and regional professional tournaments and in 2007 was the host of the golf talk show “the morning Drive” on AM 950 the Fan. |
